Harkness Park Connecticut Engagement Session
I don’t think I could ever get sick of taking Harkness Park engagement photos! It’s just the most beautiful location in Connecticut for engagement sessions. Full disclosure – my husband and I did our engagement photos at Harkness Park back in 2011. So I MIGHT be biased.
This visit was for Erin and Marc’s engagement photo session on an absolutely beautiful evening in June. There was a wedding going on at Eolia Mansion and the gardens were occupied. So we started at the old tree by the Carriage House instead. Late afternoon sunlight was streaming through the branches where many lovers have carved their initials.
Usually when a couple does engagement photos it takes a few minutes for the awkwardness to subside, but these two jumped right in! I had a bit of deja vu, thinking about how awkward my husband and I were at first. I even posted a few outtakes from OUR engagement photos on Instagram. Thankfully they were good to go, because the golden hour light was getting really good. We could barely make it five steps without stopping at another stunning spot for photos. Pretty much anything old and/or covered in ivy warrants a stop in my book!
Next we went into the Carriage House courtyard where the blue Carriage House doors coordinated perfectly with their outfits.
By this time the wedding at Eolia Mansion had moved inside for their reception. So next we headed over to the Italian Garden to finish up the engagement photo session.
The sun was starting to set in pastel hues. We walked around back to the great lawn to end the engagement session with sunset photos.
And that, my friends, is why I think Harkness Park is THE best location in Connecticut for engagement photos. Erin and Marc are getting married later in the summer at the Inn at Mystic in Mystic, CT. Can’t wait!
