Stamford Museum and Nature Center Wedding
Being a wedding photographer is incredibly rewarding with clients like Dana and Chris and a stunning venue like the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. I had previously photographed an engagement session at the Stamford Nature Center, so I knew this day would be exceptional.
Bride Getting Ready
Upon arriving at the couple’s home, I immediately noticed the calendar entry for May 11th: “Let’s Get Married.” And that’s exactly what they did! It was a glorious spring day for the wedding at Stamford Museum and Nature Center. The ladies prepared at the couple’s charming home in Norwalk, CT. Although I had lived in Norwalk for seven years, I had never explored their neighborhood before—it was lovely! It’s always nice to get ready in a familiar space, especially since their three cats are important family members and joined in on the fun.
Groom Getting Ready
Meanwhile, the groom, Chris, prepared at his brother’s house in Stamford, CT. My second photographer, Erin, captured him getting ready, complete with a real bowtie! She also documented some fun moments with his nephew, the ring bearer, as he enjoyed time with the groomsmen. Everyone then headed to the Stamford Nature Center for the first look.
First Look at Stamford Nature Center
The couple shared their first look on the Wheels in the Woods trail at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, one of my favorite photo spots in the area. I’ve even been quoted about it in local publications.

The groom walked out onto the wooden boardwalk, and the bride followed. When she got close enough, he turned around to see her for the first time. This couple is so fun and playful! I initially planned to direct them for portraits but remembered their engagement session and decided to let them do their thing while I captured candid moments.
Mansion Wedding Ceremony
Later in the afternoon, the wedding ceremony took place inside the Henri Bendel Mansion at Stamford Nature Center. The ballroom features a stunning vaulted ceiling with wooden trusses and twinkling fairy lights. A family friend officiated a humorous and heartfelt ceremony that included personalized vows. The groom even promised to drink the flat, half-empty cans of seltzer the bride always leaves around the house. Now THAT’S love! They also shared a surprise secret handshake to seal their union.
Stamford Museum and Nature Center Wedding Reception
Once pronounced husband and wife, the guests walked down to the Otter Pond for the cocktail hour while the couple signed their marriage license. On the way, we spotted a beautiful archway overlooking a lovely spring vista, and of course, we had to stop for a photo. They then danced their way to the reception!
At the reception, they glided through their first dance before the speeches began. I love listening to the speeches, as they often reveal fascinating details about the couple. I learned how they lived parallel lives for several years, almost meeting multiple times before the universe finally brought them together. Their quirky traits also came to light—Dana likes to call people “humans,” while Chris dislikes driving.
Wedding Food Trucks
Earlier in the day, I saw their save-the-date announcement, which humorously warned guests to come hungry. After a family-style dinner, guests enjoyed Tipsy Cones, Baonanas Banana Pudding, donuts, and even late-night pizza! This feast provided plenty of energy for the lively dance party that continued as I left for the evening.
