Lake of Isles Wedding
It was a beautiful, fun, HOT day for Alli and Liam’s Lake of Isles Wedding. Temps were over 100 degrees, and we were all so thankful to be in air-conditioning most of the day. It didn’t stop them from going out for photos though. Just like the frigid cold didn’t stop their engagement photos last fall at Gouveia Vineyards! Luckily they have a talent for nailing photos in extreme weather conditions.
Getting Ready at Fox Tower
Both the bride and groom got ready for their Lake of Isles Wedding at Fox Tower. Fox Tower is the hotel at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Many of the rooms have gorgeous views out over a lush green forest. The girls had fun popping champagne while the guys looked up YouTube videos on how to tie a bowtie (haha)!
Wedding Ceremony at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Norwich, CT
Prior to the wedding reception at Lake of Isles, the ceremony took place at the vast and beautiful St. Patrick’s Cathedral. While we were waiting for the ceremony to begin, the priest motioned for me to come back behind the altar where the groom was waiting. I was hesitant, remembering the “rules” from my Catholic high school days. (Fun Fact: the groom Liam and I went to the same high school!) I did eventually comply with the priest’s motion. When I got back there he requested a photo of the groom and best man holding a snack-sized ziplock bag. I was SLIGHTLY confused but took the photo. Then they filled me in on the fact that this humble vessel was what the guys had chosen to transport the wedding rings in!
Initially impressed by the priest’s sense of humor, I was equally impressed with the beautiful wedding ceremony he presided over. Afterwards, we took family photos inside, and a REALLY quick few photos outside before heading to the wedding reception at Lake of Isles.
Wedding Portraits on the bridge at Lake of Isles
Before the wedding reception started at Lake of Isles we went out to the bridge for photos. It’s a classic spot on the golf course and usually, we do a full 20 minutes of wedding portraits out there. Usually, it’s not 100+ degrees though…Luckily Alli and Liam completely nailed their photos in about 5 minutes flat.
Wedding Reception at Lake of Isles
Then it was time to party at their wedding reception in the Lake of Isles ballroom! There were lots of great moments, like the twin sister of the bride’s hilarious speech, and the epic bouquet toss at the end of the evening! Congrats to the newlyweds and wishing them an amazing honeymoon in Croatia!
