History
Glen Manor House has a rich history steeped in the opulence and grandeur of the Gilded Age. Henry A.C. Taylor, a wealthy banking, railroad, and mining magnate, acquired the property known locally as “the glen” at the turn of the twentieth century. He was looking for a more pastoral setting for a summer home than bustling Newport. The chateau-style manor house, designed by a renowned architect responsible for the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC was inspired by the Petit Trianon at Versailles. The home was used privately, as a school, and is now a charming wedding venue.
