Bride Getting Ready

Amanda and Simon’s Regatta Place Newport wedding was on my wedding anniversary. And it rained, just like on my wedding day. But that didn’t stop the bride from enjoying time with friends and family while getting ready in a suite at Gurney’s Resort in Newport, RI. Afterward, she headed to another hotel room to receive a gift from her groom.

First Look

The groom then joined the bride in the hotel room where they had a private and emotional first look with each other.

Chinese Tea Ceremony

After the first look, they went back to the hotel suite to receive family members at their Chinese Tea Ceremony prior to heading over to Regatta Place for the Western wedding ceremony. Family members drank tea with them and presented gifts. Amanda was completely covered in jewelry by the end of the ceremony! Then we took some formal photos in the lobby at Gurney’s Resort because it was still raining too hard to go out to Newport Harbor Lighthouse as we had planned.

After photos, we headed over to Regatta Place on Goat Island in Newport for the wedding ceremony. The bridal party lined up just outside the tent for the processional and it started to downpour rain. The result was a bit of a soggy entrance. The guests especially loved the little ring bearer with his sign.

After the wedding ceremony, we were able to take some formal photos outside as it had stopped raining momentarily.

Wedding Reception at Regatta Place

By the time guests moved into the Regatta Place tent for the wedding reception, it started raining hard again. The bride and groom made quite the entrance under umbrellas through a driving rain. Luckily their sweetheart table was just far enough under the tent to avoid them getting wet, but still saw the outdoor courtyard behind them.

After dinner, wedding guests got down on the dance floor in the Regatta Place tent. The bride even changed into a beautiful red dress! It was a fun wedding reception for a great couple.
