Kalmar Village Weddings
Kalmar Village Weddings are my favorite as far as Cape Cod beach weddings go. Out at the tip of Cape Cod in Truro MA, this wedding venue has 400 feet of private beach! I don’t know of any other Cape Cod wedding venues on the water where you can have both your wedding ceremony and reception directly on the sand. The best part is you don’t have far to go at the end of the night if you opt to stay in the on-site cottages!
Venue Features
Kalmar Village is an oceanfront resort in North Truro MA just over the border from Provincetown. The resort is comprised of typical Cape Cod cottages centered around a lush lawn area. From the lawn, a wooden boardwalk takes you through the low dunes to the private beach. The entire property is on the bayside and enjoys views of Provincetown.
Beach Wedding Ceremonies
Wedding ceremonies at Kalmar Village typically take place on the boardwalk to the beach. A pergola can be erected over the boardwalk, and chairs are set up in the sand on either side. The boardwalk makes a great natural runway for the bridal party procession and recession. You can’t beat the beautiful unobstructed beach and ocean views behind the ceremony site.
Kalmar Village Wedding Reception
There are two locations for a tented wedding reception at Kalmar Village, the lawn or the beach. The lawn is a little more protected and is easier to access for mobility challenged attendees yet it still has beach views. The beach has unobstructed views of the ocean and P-Town and you can dance barefoot on the beach!
Portrait Locations
Kalmar Village has several locations for wedding portraits on-site. There is the grassy lawn area, the beach, the boardwalk, and the low sand dunes.
The nearby towns also have lots of great locations for photos. There is no shortage of beaches on the Outer Cape for wedding photos, but my local picks are Cold Storage Beach, Pamet Harbor, Race Point Beach, and Head of the Meadow Beach. There are also beautiful tidal flats, kettle ponds, lighthouses, and a vineyard nearby!
Industry Insider Tips
Kalmar Village is the type of wedding venue that you can dress up or dress down. The weddings I’ve photographed there have tended to be more on the dressed downside, more like barefoot beach weddings. There are lots of great catering options, but Clambakes and BBQ work especially well here. You can even rent a steel drummer to complete the laid back ocean wedding vibe!
For a lot of my clients, having their dog be a part of the wedding is important. This is the perfect wedding venue for including your dog!
Rehearsal Dinner
There are so many great restaurants on the outer Cape for rehearsal dinners. A few that come to mind are Pepe’s Wharf and Fanizzis in Provincetown. Even better, opt to have your rehearsal dinner at Truro Vineyards and get the best of both worlds (beach and vineyard)!
Hotels Nearby
Kalmar Village offers lodging for you and your wedding guests in the cottages on-site. If you need more space there are several other cottage colonies nearby, along with many rental homes.
The Provincetown Inn is a bigger hotel in nearby Ptown with a restaurant and pool.
