Aldrich Mansion Wedding

An Aldrich Mansion Wedding, FINALLY!  I say finally for two reasons.  First, my clients were supposed to have this wedding back in May.  COVID forced them to reschedule (twice).  They ultimately decided to have a very small wedding on their third date and hold off on the big party until next year.  The second reason is that this is the first wedding I’ve professionally photographed at the Aldrich Mansion.  Considering I’ve lived in the next town over for 5 years, that’s pretty crazy!  It was well worth the wait, though.

Wedding Prep at the Aldrich Mansion

We were on a tight schedule, and I was flying solo that day, but I was still able to capture both the bride and groom getting ready.  The bride was upstairs, and the groom was downstairs.  I got my steps in that day, traversing the mansion several times to capture both parties!  It was worth it though because getting ready in a mansion is special.  The light, the antique furnishings, the expensive marble, it just makes everything so magical.

I especially loved it when the mother of the bride was helping her daughter with her veil.  It was the quintessential “don’t make me cry” moment.  It happens at most weddings!

Wedding Ceremony in the Aldrich Mansion Chapel

The ceremony took place in the chapel, which looks like a smaller version of Westminster Abbey.  Even though it can fit a lot more people, it still felt intimate for this small wedding.  The beautiful stained glass and woodwork were a beautiful backdrop for the religious ceremony.

Aldrich Mansion Wedding Photos

After the ceremony, we set off for wedding photos around the mansion grounds.  There are SO many great wedding photo locations at the Aldrich Mansion!  We started with family photos on the back steps of the mansion.  Then the couple took a stroll together down towards the water.  The sun decided to make an appearance right as they were walking down!  We got some more steps in walking back up the hill afterward.

Wedding Reception

The couple shared their first dance outside on the patio.  It was so beautiful, with the mansion on one side of them, and the sunset over the bay on the other.  Then they went inside for a small dinner in the ballroom.  I’m looking forward to doing it all again with a bigger crowd next year!
