Laugh More. Pose Less.

We somehow managed to fit in Abbie and Drew’s Saratoga Springs Engagement Session over Labor Day Weekend. It wasn’t easy amidst rainy forecasts, boating outings and gender reveal parties. I’m so glad we made it happen though because the weather was pretty great, and we had a lot of fun! We bounced around to a few locations in Saratoga Spa State Park during the session. We started in a beautiful archway near the Hall of Springs, and even included the couple’s dog Piper in a few of the photos.

Afterwards we walked over to a nearby hiking trail that is lined with beautiful mature trees. Of course there are many many beautiful locations in Saratoga for engagement sessions, but I really love this one! Drew takes Piper on walks here a couple times a week, so she was quite excited. After calmly explaining that this wasn’t walk time, she gave us this adorable doggie pose!

The couple headed off the trail to a clearing in the woods for a few photos. I love “spying” during photo sessions, even though of course they knew I was there. Something about a little physical distance can help the magic happen.

After a quick costume change, we headed over to the Creekside area at Saratoga Spa State park for the remainder of the engagement session. We checked out a couple bridges surrounded by gorgeous green foliage.

Then Drew picked up Abbie and carried her out into the middle of the creek for a few photos. We finished up on a moss covered picnic table as the evening light was starting to fade. A perfect Saratoga engagement session!

I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding next fall at June Farms in West Sand Lake, NY. Only a year to go…
