Chequessett Yacht & Country Club is right up the street from my parent’s house, so it’s crazy I haven’t photographed a wedding there yet! I’ve played golf at CYCC many times over the years. However, I had never been down to their private beach before until recently when my family joined and started storing their kayaks there. This past weekend I had a chance to check out the grounds at prime wedding time (low tide and golden hour). It was pretty spectacular!
Chequessett Yacht & Country Club Wedding Locations
Chequessett Yacht & Country Club is just as the name describes. The clubhouse and a 9 hole golf course are on the inland side of the road. On the oceanside of the road are a private beach, boathouse, and boatyard. It’s one of just a few wedding venues in Wellfleet and one of the only outer Cape Cod wedding venues on the beach!
Private Beach
The private beach at Chequessett Club would be perfect for a beach wedding ceremony or wedding photos. The beach is very narrow at high-tide, but it widens greatly as the tide goes out. At low tide, there are tidal flats and reflecting pools that would be stunning in wedding photos. There are usually picturesque sailboats moored there as well. Walk down the beach a bit to the left and the historic Elephant House could be a beautiful photo backdrop as well!
Boatyard
Just above the private beach is an elevated area surrounded by beach roses where boats are stored. This spot at Chequessett Yacht Club could also be nice for wedding photos with it’s an expansive view over Wellfleet Harbor and Great Island. You’d also have the ability to get up close and personal to some colorful boats!
Boathouse
The rustic Boathouse at Chequesett Yacht & Country Club is the big selling point to this wedding venue. It’s small, but enjoys absolutely incredible views! It is big enough for a cocktail hour, a small wedding reception, or dancing and cake. A large covered deck runs the length of the building looking out toward the bay. They have also recently added on an additional deck area off the left side of the building. In addition, a beautiful boardwalk and set of stairs lead from the boathouse down to the beach.
Clubhouse
Weddings can also use the Clubhouse. It has a large tented deck on the back that looks out over the golf course. It’s a larger area that could be used for dinner seating if the wedding guests list is large.
Wedding Photo Locations Near Chequessett Yacht & Country Club
There is no shortage of options at a Chequessett Yacht & Country Club wedding for photo locations. However, if you wanted to go offsite for some wedding photos, I know all the best spots in Wellfleet! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many families and couples in Wellfleet over the years. Some of my favorite locations are the Old Lightkeepers House, Uncle Tim’s Bridge, Newcomb Hollow Beach, and my secret sunset spot.
